About the Role
As the General Manager, WHS, you will provide strategic leadership and expert guidance in all facets of workplace health and safety. Leading a national team of WHS professionals, you will drive the implementation of consistent policies, processes, and systems aligned with best practices and ISO 45001 standards.
You will play a critical role in fostering a culture of safety, reducing workplace risks, and delivering innovative WHS strategies that protect the organisation’s diverse workforce, including both paid and volunteer members.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute WHS strategies that align with organisational goals and industry standards.
- Risk Management: Oversee WHS risks, incident responses, and workers’ compensation claims, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
- Team Development: Lead a national WHS team, setting clear objectives, providing professional development, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative and legally compliant WHS solutions.
- Data-Driven Safety: Analyse and report on key safety metrics, driving evidence-based decision-making and improvements.

You are a strategic leader with extensive WHS management experience and a strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and Standards. Ideally, you have experience in the healthcare sector, giving you insight into the complexities of managing safety in environments that support both employees and vulnerable individuals. You thrive in dynamic environments, possess exceptional communication skills, and can influence and guide stakeholders at all levels. Your ability to lead a dispersed team, manage risks, and implement innovative WHS strategies sets you apart.
