About the Role:

As a Psychosocial Risk Specialist, you will:
  • Develop and maintain a Psychosocial Risk Register.
  • Implement and drive the organisation’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Plan.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate psychosocial hazards, ensuring compliance with ISO 45003 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Advise on workplace risks, including violence, aggression, and gender-based harm.
  • Strengthen controls to empower managers in fostering a safe, supportive environment.
About You:
You bring:
  1. Relevant Tertiary Qualifications:
    • Degrees in Work Health and Safety or related fields.
    • Equivalent level of knowledge through education, training, and/or experience.
  2. Experience in High-Risk Environments:
    • Previous experience in psychosocial operational risk management, compliance, or audit roles within complex high-risk workplaces.
  3. Knowledge of Regulatory Guidelines:
    • Understanding of Model Code of Practice for managing psychosocial hazards.
    • Familiarity with ISO 45003 (Psychological health and safety at work) and ISO 45001.
  4. Strategic Plan Implementation:
    • Experience in communicating and consulting with staff, students, and representative bodies to implement mental health and wellbeing strategic plans.
  5. Process Improvement Skills:
    • Well-developed process mapping and problem-solving skills in complex environments.
  6. Understanding of Legal Compliance:
    • Knowledge of requirements under the Sex Discrimination Act and other relevant laws to eliminate work-related sexual harassment and unlawful behaviors.
  7. Research and Assessment:
    • Ability to research and assess current incident data on psychosocial hazards within a university or similar complex organization.
  8. Communication Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong problem-solving, negotiating, and decision-making abilities.
  9. Training Material Preparation:
    • Experience in preparing training materials for management and staff to ensure organisational due diligence.
  10. Sector Experience:
    • Experience in the education/tertiary sector or other highly regulated industries is highly desirable.
