Senior Injury Management Advisor
Part-time Senior Injury Management Advisor role, 3 days per week, VPS 5 equivalent, complex WorkCover claims focus.

This role is offered 3 days per week for up to 6 months, with flexibility to work from various office locations and regular attendance at a central Melbourne office.
You will use your allied health experience to provide specialist advice and leadership across injury management, return to work, WorkCover, fitness for role, medical screening and early intervention matters.
The Role
Working within a small specialist team, this position will support the effective management of injury, rehabilitation and compensation matters for both employees and volunteers.
A significant focus of the role will be managing complex and sensitive claims, including legally contested WorkCover matters. You will provide practical, person-centred advice while working closely with internal stakeholders, treating practitioners, insurers, rehabilitation providers and legal representatives.
This role will also support contractual obligations relating to volunteer injury and compensation claims, ensuring matters are managed in line with agreed service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist advice across injury management, rehabilitation, return to work and workers compensation matters
- Manage complex and sensitive physical and psychological injury claims
- Oversee the development and implementation of return to work programs and early intervention strategies
- Support medical screening processes, fitness for role assessments and related decision-making
- Coordinate and manage volunteer injury and compensation claims
- Provide expert support on complex and legally contested WorkCover claims
- Assist with information gathering, document discovery, evidence collation and legal case preparation
- Work closely with health and safety, rehabilitation, workplace relations and legal stakeholders
- Provide clear, practical guidance to managers and leaders at all levels
- Support consistent, informed and person-centred outcomes for employees and volunteers
- Contribute to broader health, wellbeing and injury prevention initiatives
You will be an experienced injury management professional with strong allied health capability and the confidence to manage complex matters in a sensitive, operationally focused environment.
You will bring:
- A recognised allied health qualification, essential
- Strong experience in injury management, occupational rehabilitation, workers compensation or return to work
- Demonstrated experience managing complex WorkCover claims
- Strong understanding of Victorian workers compensation and return to work requirements
- Experience supporting physical and psychological injury matters
- Ability to manage sensitive, complex and legally contested claims
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- High-quality documentation, case management and reporting capability
- A practical, calm and solutions-focused approach
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small specialist team
- Experience specialising in mental health and workers compensation claims
- Exposure to emergency services, government, health, insurance or self-insured environments
- Experience supporting document discovery, legal case preparation or evidence collation
- Return to Work Coordinator training or equivalent
- Fixed-term contract for up to 6 months
- Part-time role, 3 days per week
- Salary range equivalent to VPS 5: $116,413 - $128,631 plus superannuation, pro rata
- Flexible office location, with regular central Melbourne attendance
